A short morning walk along the Douaniers trail from your campsite near Cancale

There is no longer any need to introduce the famous long-distance footpath 34, the GR34, also known as the "sentier des Douaniers". For those who have not yet had the chance to walk it, this coastal path runs along the Breton coast for almost 2000 km. It is a real institution as it offers sumptuous views of Brittany's maritime coastline, with its countless coves, inlets and beaches. It is therefore impossible to ignore a trip to the countryside to start your day in Cancale.

Routes to discover on the GR34, near your campsite near Cancale

The mornings are particularly suitable for a hike along the GR34, the colours are marvellous at sunrise, and the temperature is most pleasant in the summer months. You can choose between two routes, each of them rivalling in beauty! The first possibility is to leave from the Port of Cancale and head for the Pointe du Grouin. This is a route for the more athletic, even if it is very accessible as it is 7km long. Another possibility, rather intended for families with young children, is to take the GR34 from the Chapelle du Verger and head towards the Pointe du Grouin; for a somewhat shorter itinerary, of less than 1 hour in all, over 4km.

In either case, you'll be amazed! The seaside in this corner of Brittany is of a rare beauty, the nature is preserved, the horizon well cleared!  And as the famous show says: "And at the end, there is the sea!" yes, because the Pointe du Grouin in Cancale is this peak which advances right in the middle of the water, giving you the impression to be on the deck of a boat...
